"From the beginning, the work of Javier León has been located on the boundary between painting and sculpture that goes beyond the flat surface or sculpture that contract into painting. These are abstracts works in which there is a continuous evocation of nature and its rhythms in both the materials and the manner in which they are used.
The transmission of the feelings nature causes in him, the sensations accumulated in his memory, are deposited in the paper in which he usually works. This material has its own energy. Those made with painted, folded and cut- out paper - speak of delicacy and fragility, the ways in which he arranges that multitude of little pieces of paper, of natural rhythms, of germination and growth; structures, rhythms and lights that can later be recognized in a careful examination of nature."
